Former British pop star Gary Glitter appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday (June 19) to face charges of eight sexual offences against two teenage girls dating back to the 1970s following a 20-month investigation.

The singer, whose real name is Paul Gadd shot to fame in the early 1970s with trademark figure-hugging shiny silver all-in-one suits, platform shoes and large black hair.

In court he spoke only to give his name and address and then was bailed by the judge and is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court on July 3.
