One man died and two others were critically injured when a light aircraft crashed upon approach to Caernarfon Airport in Wales on Sunday.

The plane, a four-seater Piper Cherokee, was traveling from Blackpool to North Wales when the crash occurred at around lunchtime.

Sources at the airport said the plane had clipped trees as it approached the runway and flipped onto its roof, according to Wales Online.

One man was killed, while another was taken to hospital with multiple lower limb injuries. The third passenger, a boy, was described as having serious head and abdomen injuries.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has launched an inquiry into the cause of the incident.
