France elections: Francois Fillon could be eliminated

The long-time front-runner François Fillon could be eliminated in the first round of elections, new polls showed. Fillon allegedly paid close to €1 million, which is believed to be taxpayer-funded, to his wife and children as parliamentary aides. The allegations regarding Fillon giving his wife and children public money diminished support of the 62-year-old. Since the controversy, Fillon's approval ratings dropped by 20 percent as the National Front candidate Marine Le Pen takes lead.
