Leaders of the New Apostolic reformation have credited Branham as being a gifted prophet and faith healer who “went astray” in the latter years. Stage acts such as Benny Hinn claim that Branham’s “gift” to detect diseases was incredibly accurate, and Branham’s cult of personality publish propaganda claiming that any person seeking healing could be healed of even the most deadly diseases. Because NAR leaders base their history on fictional history written by Branham’s cult leaders or William Branham himself, they omit critical details that their own audiences would never believe. Like the “flesh-colored hands”. According to Branham, flesh-colored hands signified a disease that was more powerful than God’s weak ability to heal.

In some versions of his stage persona, and just like Oral Roberts, William Branham claimed to have vibrating hands to “detect germs”. This “germ detecting vibration” was used in the late 1940s and 1950s, even on patients having diseases where germs were not involved such as cancer. Before this stage persona, however, Branham claimed to have the ability to diagnose diseases with a hand that changed color. If his hand turned red or purple, the person was soon to receive their healing. If his hands remained flesh-colored, however, the person seeking healing had just made a wasted trip.
