Critically injured Syrians flee to Lebanon for medical treatment

Doctors in Lebanon race to save the life of a critically-injured Syrian.
The man, who stepped on a landmine, is among hundreds of Syrians who have been treated at this hospital in the last two months.
He is part of a growing tide of injured civilians who have fled to Lebanon as a bloody year-long conflict in their homeland rages on.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) UNIDENTIFIED WOUNDED SYRIAN NATIONAL
"The wounded are coming here to Lebanon to be treated because we cannot be treated in Syria's hospitals. Security forces will enter and take the injured if they are anti-regime. Then they will either kill them or they torture them to death."
Many of those casualties came from the city of Homs, where a government artillery bombardment has levelled the district of Baba Amr.
This man lost an arm when a rocket landed just two metres away from him.
He pleaded for international help to end the conflict.

"The story of Baba Amr will be repeated across Syria if they do not a put an end to this.''
The UN says 7,500 Syrians have been killed since the start of a popular uprising against president Bashar al-Assad began last year.
